Farewell, Jackie by bestselling author Edward Klein, who knew Jackie for more than a dozen years, is the moving account of those last months and a celebration of the life of an American icon who faced death as she faced life—with all the bravery and grace of a woman who had long inspired the nation. The Passion of Jesus Christ...$2.99 plus $1.99 s&h

The most important questions anyone can ask are: Why was Jesus Christ crucified? Why did he suffer so much? What has this to do with me? Finally, who sent him to his death? The answer to the last question is that God did. Jesus was God’s Son. The suffering was unsurpassed, but the whole message of the Bible leads to this answer.

The central issue of Jesus’ death is not the cause, but the meaning—God’s meaning. That is what this book is about. John Piper has gathered from the New Testament fifty reasons. Not fifty causes, but fifty purposes—in answer to the most important question that each of us must face: What did God achieve for sinners like us in sending his Son to die?

Desecration by Tim Lahaye reg. $24.99 on sale $14.99 plus $3.99 S&H (Hardcover)

"9th book in the left behind series"

Rayford Steele and his ragtag team of flying rebels—having arrived by the dozens from around the globe—ready themselves to serve as agents of rescue for God's chosen people. Led by soft-spoken Chaim Rosenzweig, believers in Jerusalem must flee or take the mark of the beast. His Excellency Global Community Potentate Nicolae Carpathia, no longer pretending to be a pacifist, has ordered every Morale Monitor armed as he prepares to travel along the Via Dolorosa and then onward to the temple, where shocking surprises await. Crowds loyal to Carpathia gather to see their potentate and are eager to take the mark in his presence. Buck Williams, unsure of Chaim's leadership abilities, questions whether he should take charge. Chloe Steele Williams fears for Buck's safety and acts on her own desire to be more involved. Tsion Ben-Judah prepares for his trip to meet with fellow believers in Petra. Meanwhile, Rayford struggles with the idea of using arms to protect believers from the GC. The lines are drawn between good and evil as God inflicts the first Bowl Judgment upon to flesh of those who have taken the mark, while his chosen ones flee to the wilderness, on the brink of Armageddon.

Armageddon by Tim Lahaye reg. $24.99 on sale $14.99 plus $3.99 S&H (Hardcover)

And so begins Armageddon—the Trib Force is still holding out in the San Diego safe house, though the only truly safe place on earth for believers is Petra. New Babylon is in a strange pillar of darkness that has incapacitated its population and its power. A faint glow emits from Carpathia, but it illuminates a mere yard in front of him. Despite the dangers, the technical hijinks continue, as the Trib Force is able to monitor Carpathia's inner circle and even take control of his broadcasting network for a special broadcast to the world. Who will stay true to their newfound faith in the face of possible capture, interrogation, or torture? While the world focuses on the chaos in New Babylon and the possible cause for this inexplicable darkness, what about Jerusalem? Shouldn't believers be there? It is the final chance, after all, to proclaim the truth of God's Word at this final hour, in this most sacred of all places. The Jezreel Valley becomes choked with troops and weapons and vehicles as far as you can see. Despite their preparation, cunning, and resources, how can any of the Trib Force survive to see the Glorious Appearing in the face of such an awesome force? Like many of the battles in the Old Testament when the enemy seemed so big that defeat seemed imminent, Armageddon will take place in similar fashion. Through Armageddon, Jerry Jenkins weaves a tale of urgency, suspense, humor, poignancy, and absolute assurance in God. You'll follow the Trib Force around the world as history hurtles to its end. You'll find yourself on the battlefield of Armageddon. As in all the preceding stories, not all of the Trib Force survive. Who will be left standing?

I m a Soldier, Too The Jessica Lynch Story $7.99 (Hardcover)

Private First Class Jessica Lynch's capture and rescue during the 2003 war in Iraq captured the attention and captivated the emotions of millions of Americans. Accounts of the actual events surrounding Lynch were wildly varied as some took her to be a symbol of American righteousness while others made her out to be a pawn of the US military. But the Lynch that emerges in Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Rick Bragg's portrayal is an ordinary young woman caught up in an extraordinary series of events. Bragg, who had the cooperation of Lynch and her family in writing I Am a Soldier, Too intersperses her war story with a detailed portrait of the diminutive kid from Palestine, West Virginia who enlisted to see the world. What's truly remarkable about Lynch is how relatively unremarkable she is. She had a normal working class childhood, did fine in high school, performed capably in basic training, made some good friends, met a guy, and, like thousands of her contemporaries, was sent off to a war zone in the Middle East. But the story takes a sharp turn when her vehicle loses the convoy it was following near Nasiriyah, her four fellow soldiers are killed in the subsequent fighting, and Lynch is badly wounded and taken prisoner. Blacking out for three hours, she awakes in an Iraqi hospital where the tensions of war coupled with a lack of resources and a language and culture barrier make for a harrowing stay even as numerous medical personnel defy their own military to protect her and save her life. Finally, American troops captured Nasiriyah, kicked down the hospital doors (even as hospital workers tried to give them a master key) and airlifted Lynch out. Bragg also tells the story of the blue collar West Virginia town of Palestine and the Lynch family who the world watches, first as Jessica goes missing, then when she is rescued, and finally when she returns amid much fanfare. Bragg keeps the story telling pretty simple, avoiding an analysis of how the story was spun or the politics behind the war itself. In the end, Jessica Lynch is not, by her own insistence, a hero. Rather, she is a soldier with a remarkable story of survival to tell. Thankfully, she has now had the opportunity to tell it herself.
